Understanding a Vimshottari dasha

A traditional schedule has a calculation behind it. Its dates are not promises of events.

The starting point is the birth Moon

Vimshottari begins from the Moon's nakshatra at birth. The uncompleted part of that mansion determines the balance of the first period. The sequence continues through Ketu, Venus, Sun, Moon, Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury.

Major periods contain subperiods

The nine traditional major-period lengths sum to 120 years. Subperiod lengths are proportional to that sequence. Simply Panditji uses a 365.25-day year and publishes that convention because other traditional year choices can shift the dates.

Why an exact time matters here

The starting Moon position affects the remaining period balance. This tool does not present one schedule for an approximate or unknown birth time. A recorded exact time is still only as reliable as its source, location and clock convention.

Ask about themes without surrendering a decision

A traditional reading may discuss period themes, but a calendar boundary is not proof that a job, marriage or another event will occur. Bring your actual options and constraints into the conversation. For practical decisions, keep evidence outside astrology in view.
