Your chart reference

A name in a chart is easier to use when you can see what it counts. Start with a label from your own calculated result.

Look up a name from your result. Start and end angles below are sidereal longitudes around the same 360° circle.

Every interval includes its start and stops just before its end. At 360°, the circle returns to 0°. The labels describe a convention, not a personality or a promised event.

Twelve rashis, one circle

A Moon rashi comes from the calculated Moon position, rather than a birthday-based Sun-sign shortcut. Each rashi covers 30°.

D9 and pada: the same fine division

In this implementation, D9 multiplies sidereal longitude by nine and wraps it around 360°. Each 3°20′ portion of the original circle therefore maps to one 30° D9 sign.

A planet’s D9 sign follows its longitude. A D9 house layout also needs a supported exact-time ascendant. Neither a finer diagram nor a reference label makes an uncertain birth record more exact.

Near a division boundary, keep the engine’s precision warning. Unknown and approximate-time charts retain candidate D9 signs rather than one fabricated placement.

How twelve whole-sign houses are numbered

With a supported recorded instant and location, the ascendant’s rashi becomes the first D1 house. Each following sign becomes the next house. These offsets describe sign order, not an equal-distance measurement from the exact ascendant degree.

Unknown or approximate birth time does not receive one ascendant or house chart. An exact-time record beyond the supported ±65° latitude also keeps houses unavailable.

What the Vimshottari schedule counts

The birth Moon’s nakshatra sets the first period lord. Its uncompleted fraction sets the balance remaining at birth. The nine full period lengths sum to 120 years.

A subperiod takes the major-period length multiplied by its own lord’s full years, divided by 120. This website uses a 365.25-day year. Another year convention can move the dates.

The active period includes its start instant and stops just before its end. A date in this schedule is a traditional calculation, not proof that an event will happen. One schedule stays withheld for uncertain time.

One set of positions, clearly named

Rashi, nakshatra, pada and D9 divide the same sidereal circle at different scales. Their ranges describe chart geometry. A label does not independently establish personality, compatibility or a future event.

Keep the record with the result

An unknown time remains a range. A precise-looking reference table cannot establish the missing birth instant. House and period explanations should be read with the exact-time, location and calculation warnings in the result.
